Edward attended Waterford Kettering Highschool and graduated in 1962. On October 1, 1966, he married the love of his life, Cherie, beginning a devoted partnership that remained at the center of his life. A dedicated Catholic man, Edward was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church from 1978 onward, and his commitment to his faith was unwavering.
Those who knew Edward knew where his heart lived: with his family. He made it a personal goal to show up steadily and faithfully to his children’s and grandchildren’s events, offering a presence that spoke of deep love, quiet strength, and steadfast support.
In his free time, Edward found peace and purpose outdoors fly fishing, where patience and care met craftsmanship; he even designed his own flys. In recent years, he especially enjoyed catching steelhead. At home, he enjoyed numerous games, and he could almost always be found playing solitaire. He also loved Harry Potter, reading the books and watching all of the movies numerous times, returning again and again to the wonder and familiarity of the story. Throughout his life, Edward cultivated a philanthropist spirit and was unbelievably generous, giving freely and thoughtfully in ways that reflected his enduring values.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Cherie; children Angel (Roy) Nelson, Carla (Mark) Tinti, Julia (Gary) Orr, and James (Mindy) Heading; Grandchildren Cody Nelson, Melissa (Caleb) Nelson, Emma Orr, Jonathan Tinti, Dominick Tinti, Lizzy Tinti, Ethan Heading, and Mady Heading; great grandchild Harper; and sister Ann Whyte.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Ruth Heading; siblings Mary Lou and Herbie.
