Elizabeth June “Betty” Clymer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her lifelong home on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the age of 96. A resident of Flint for 75 years, she was a cherished member of the community, known for her kind heart, creative spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
She retired from Beecher High School, where she proudly served as the head baker. Her talents in the kitchen were unmatched, and she brought warmth and nourishment to generations of students and staff with every homemade treat.
In her younger years, she and her late husband, Clarence, shared a passion for square dancing, gracing the floor in matching outfits she lovingly sewed herself. A gifted seamstress, she also made most of her daughter's clothing, pouring care and craftsmanship into every stitch.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—tuning into QVC, decorating her home with seasonal cheer, and spending countless hours tending to her yard and garden, especially her cherished flowers. Her home was always a place of beauty and comfort.
She often said, “I don’t have sons-in-law, I have sons from another mother,” a reflection of her boundless love and welcoming heart. She was a woman of deep compassion, generosity, and joy—a truly loving soul who gave without hesitation and asked for little in return.
One of her most heartfelt sayings was, “I am ready to go be with my husband,” and now they are reunited at last. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and the many lives she touched just by being herself.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Sue, Jean (Brad) McGeathy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and sister Dorothy Thornton.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, sisters Hazel and Regina, daughter Kitty, son-in-law Roger, twins at birth Richard and Edward, grandsons Brian and Matthew, her parents William and Alwilda, and “Bonedaddy.”
A funeral service for Elizabeth will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00PM with visitation beginning at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan.
