SMITH, Elizabeth (Beth) – of Flushing, formerly of Flint (Eastside), age 94, passed away November 7, 2018 at the Hyde Park Memory Care. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan with Rev. Dr. Tommy McDoniel officiating. Burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hill Funeral Home. Elizabeth was born December 28, 1923 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of the late Richard and Lottie Gyles. She graduated from Flint Central High School. On March 9, 1943 in Douglas, Arizona, Elizabeth married the love of her life Robert N. Smith. Elizabeth was a devoted mother who enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a fierce supporter of her 3 sons and the Eastside of Flint. She especially loved being involved as a parent and community member in the sports and social activities at Washington Elementary School in the 1960’s and made many lasting friendships. She thoroughly enjoyed hot sunny beaches and family holiday parties. Surviving are: sons, Richard (Rebecca) Smith and Ronald (Shellie) Smith; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth (Michael) Pepper and Lisa Courtney (John) Yats; great-grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Pepper, Jacob Michael Pepper, Robert Michael Wares, Brayden Zachary Wares, Jack Alvin Yats, and Kelsey Ann Yats. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her son, Robert Nathan Smith, Jr. and by her husband of 75 years, Robert Nathan Smith.
