Elizabeth L. Taylor “Betty”, 97, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 2, 2018. She was born April 5, 1921 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Frank E. and J. Mae Jackson Lawrence. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Grant W. Taylor in 1990. They were married for 48 years. She is survived by a daughter Noreene L. Taylor (Wayne Moschella) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a son Gordon L. Taylor (Constance) of Moore, SC., Two Grandchildren Marti Lynn Wieber (Nick) of Eagle, Michigan, and Robert W. Taylor of Lansing, Michigan, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Y. Taylor of Miamisburg, Ohio and 8 nieces and nephews.
She first came to Hilton Head Island in 1980 and moved here permanently in May 1988 from Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was an avid reader and excelled at whatever she chose to do, whether it was tennis, golf, bowling, bridge, table tennis, or crosswords, not to mention her love for chocolate. Elizabeth and Grant moved 22 times throughout his career with General Motors, as well as worldwide assignments in Indonesia, Egypt, and Venezuela with International Executive Service Corps.
The family would like to thank the following for their loving care: Hilton Head Hospital’s ER, ICU, and Comfort Care team. Edwina and Lisa from First Presbyterian, the entire TidePointe staff, and the Angels at Broad Creek Care Center; she loved you all very much.
A service will be held at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Friday November 9 at 12:30 pm, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Elizabeth’s life at the TidePointe Ballroom on Tuesday, November 13th at 3:00 pm.
