Elsie "Peg" Owen

OWEN, Elsie M. (Peg) – age 98, formerly of Burton, MI died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Frankenmuth, MI. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 2PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 12PM at Phoenix United Methodist Church – 4423 S. Genesee Rd. Grand Blanc, MI with a half hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. Roger Pancost and Rev. Dr. Sang Chung officiating. Burial will take place at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Elsie was born on August 10, 1918 in Marion, MI to the late Alvah and Lura (McDaid) Howes. Elsie graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1935. She attended Michigan Normal College (EMU) and GMI. Elsie married Justin S. Owen on July 31, 1942 in Fenton, MI and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1980. She was a member of Phoenix United Methodist Church. Elsie enjoyed golf (hole-in-one at age 80), bowling, and shuffleboard. She was also involved as a leader in the Girl Scouts of America. Elsie volunteered for the Genesee County Association for Retarded Citizens and for Bay Valley Hospice. Peg married Maynard Owen September 15, 1994 and they enjoyed almost 10 years together. Surviving are her daughters, Eileen (Dennis) Dinsmore, Judith (John) Daniel, Joan (John) Gornicki; grandchildren, Mandy (Mark), Jeff (Sarah), Brad (Marcy), Kevin (Stephanie), Kurt (Cindy), Sarah (Roger), and Laura; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
