

LOCKAMY, Evelyn L. – age 91, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Sugar Bush Manor in Flint, MI. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 5pm-8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 12PM at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Glenn Tatterson and Pastor John Grantham officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Evelyn was born on June 15, 1924 in Parma, MO to the late Emanuel and Lena (Ward) Hodge. She met her neighbor Johnny Lockamy at a young age, as they grew up on farms next to each other. They were each other’s first loves in Kindergarten. On March 21, 1942, Evelyn and Johnny were married in Dunklin County, MO. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before Johnny passed away in 2009. Evelyn was a supervisor and cook for the Air Force Base in MO. She and Johnny moved to Michigan in 1953. Evelyn worked in voter registration at the polls in MI. She was also a talented seamstress and was a supervisor for a clothing factory. Evelyn and Johnny were members of Flint Baptist Temple. She taught Sunday school there and volunteered in the kitchen. Evelyn was a master at crochet, enjoyed knitting, singing karaoke, and a fabulous southern cook. She collected dolls and glassware which tied in to her love of flea markets and garage sales. Evelyn was a wonderful Christian woman and never considered anyone a stranger. She welcomed everyone into her home. She always made people laugh with her wit and amazing sense of humor. Most of all, Evelyn was a loving mother and wife and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her children, Pam (Ron) Foutch, John W. (Wendy) Lockamy, Terri (Tom) DeWitte; grandchildren, Beth, Rebecca, Debra, Brenda, Richard, Lisa, Ashley, and Adam; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Hodge; her grand-dog, Murphy, and several other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny Lockamy; daughter, Jacqueline Lockamy, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
