Fred was married to Donna at the Eagles Club at Mt. Morris, and together they built a life rooted in steady devotion and the quiet strength of everyday companionship. In the simple rituals that mattered most—drinking coffee with Donna and watching the deer in the field—he found a kind of peace that needed no fanfare, only presence.
A lifelong mechanic, Fred was never far from something that needed fixing, improving, or simply understanding. He was a natural tinkerer around vehicles, and his pole barn stood as a familiar place of purpose—where starting an engine and listening for that first sound each day was more than routine; it was a small confirmation that things could be set right, made ready, brought to life. He also cherished the pleasures of time well spent: fishing, flea markets, car shows, watching wrestling and camping.
Fred took special delight in his grandchildren, meeting their mischief and learning moments with laughter and a loving refrain—“bet you won't do that again”—offered not in harshness, but in the gentle way of someone who understood that life’s lessons are best remembered when they are wrapped in affection.
Fred is survived by his wife, Donna Marshall; his children: Fred (Dana), Mark (Melinda), Samantha (Duane), Diana, Kathy (Herman), and Tonya (Scott); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, three sons, and one grandson.
