Gary Edward Thompson

Gary Edward Thompson, age 82, passed away on November 4, 2019. He was born on March 10, 1937 in Detroit to parents Harry and Ruth (Paquette) Thompson. Gary knew no strangers, only friends he had not yet met. He was co-owner of the Eldorado Mobile Home Park in Boulder City, NV. He helped in every way possible in time of need. One of his proudest achievements: the honor of serving as First Trustee of the Boulder City, NV Elks #1682 B.P.O.E., which he was a member in excess of 30 years. In, his son, David Thompson’s growing years, Gary would bring fifty pound burlap sacks of peanuts to the desert bonfires and keep a watchful eye, therefore, the men and women who grew up and now in their fifties and sixties will remember him as “The Peanut Man”. Doris met Gary in 1961 while working at the Detroit Stock Exchange-Clearing House; office in the Penobscot Building, in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. They were friends for a lifetime; the love of her life, and her guardian angel forever more. Gary is survived by brothers: Harry “Mike” (Ann “Nan”) Thompson of Massachusetts, and Eric (Gail) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his son, David Thompson. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and his cremated remains will be placed at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
