BICKERSTETH, George - Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, age 93, of Grand Blanc passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. George was born February 2, 1921 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada the son of the late John and Frances (Ralph) Bichersteth who immigrated from Dublin, Ireland. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Sergeant during W.W.II. George married Ella Louise (Peg) McCallum and at that time they were members of a traveling trapeze act called Los Aeros. He was employed by GM Service Parts Operations in Swartz Creek for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of American Legion Post #413 in Grand Blanc and also served as a marshal at the Buick Open in Warwick Hills for many years. He will be sadly missed by wife Ella of 72 years, 4 children, Tom (Maureen) Bickersteth of Charlevoix, Carol (Richard) Larobardiere of Linden, Amy Donnelly of Bloomfield Hills and Emily Rellinger of Walloon Lake; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Irene and Jean. He was preceded in death by 2 children Theresa and Timothy, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may visit the family from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI. The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the funeral home. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettel will officiate.
