Gertrude was born on February 14, 1923, in Manistee, Michigan. In October of 1943, Gertrude joined the United States Coast Guard and served her country for 2 years. Gertrude also worked for the United States Postal Service for 13 years before she retired. Gardening was one of Gertrude's many joys in life. She also enjoyed serving her community by being a part of the Senior Center of Grand Blanc, and a Volunteer of FISH. For many years, Gertrude was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a part of the Ava Maria Guild of Holy Family.
Gertrude is survived by Children David (Lori) Swallow and Laura (Johnathan) Selley; Grandchildren Chris (Jami Venie) Swallow, and Amber Holleman; Great Grandchildren Braelynn Swallow, Mikaila Holleman, Mackenzie Hallwood, Nora Kofahl, and Jersey Kofahl; and along with many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Swallow; Brothers Joe Moran, and John Moran; Sisters Rosemary Hansen, and Jeanne Moran.
A graveside service for Gertrude will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Crestwood Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, The National Kidney Foundation and Heart to Heart Hospice of Flint.
