
HALE, Gordon H., of Flushing, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at The Salvation Army Flint Citadel, 211W. Kearsley Street, Flint, Captain Jon Augenstein officiating. Mr. Hale will lie in state at the Citadel at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd, Grand Blanc. Gordon was born on July 13, 1933 in Flint to Walter and Ada (Moses) Hale. He graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1951 and received his mechanical engineering degree from General Motors Institute in 1956. He worked as a product engineer at the A.C. Spark Division of General Motors for 40 years retiring in 1992. Gordon was a gentle man who was interested in many aspects of life. He was a member of the Experimental Aviation Association #77 and a licensed pilot. He was an avid amateur photographer and also recorded many musical events in the area. He was a member of The Salvation Army and a former member of the Flint Citadel Band as well as the AC Band. He especially loved brass banding. In his younger years, he played football for Flint Tech and basketball for The Salvation Army in the church league. He was a social person who made friends easily and kept in contact with them even as his health failed. Gordon married Sandra K. Irvine on May 22, 1992 and she survives him along with several nieces and nephews. Gordon will be greatly missed by his wife and his many friends, but he is now resting in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
