Herbert E. Wansitler Sr.

Herbert E. Wansitler Sr., age 90, passed away on June 6, 2019 in Burton, Michigan. Memorial service will be held on July 1, 2019 at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to the service with Pastor Jeremy Peters and Pastor Nick Burczyk officiating at Court Street United Methodist Church – 225 W. Court Street, Flint, Michigan. Inurnment to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Herbert was born on October 31, 1928 to the late Harry and Edna Wansitler in Flint, Michigan. Herbert was a lifelong member of Court Street United Methodist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Herbert worked at AC Spark Plug for 39 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award for his years of work with the B.S.A. Troop 31 and the Friend of Crossover award for his work with Crossover Ministries of Flint. He was a devoted husband and father. Herbert loved playing golf, basketball, fishing, bowling, softball, and water sports, as well as watching the Tigers, Pistons, University of Michigan, and sometimes the Lions. Herbert was a wonderful and fiercely loyal man who will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children: Lori (Paul) Burczyk, Amy (Jeff) Burgess, Herbert (Dawn) Wansitler, Jr.; grandchildren: Josh Burczyk, Nick (Mal) Burczyk, Bekah (Ryan) Ellis, Colton Wansitler, Jason (Summer) Burgess; great grandchildren: Mira Burczyk, Cade Burczyk, Clara Burczyk, Aurora Burgess, Gaten Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 58 years, Elaine (Hengy), and daughter Lisa. Family would like to send a special thank you to McLaren Hospice for continued care and compassion for Herbert. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry, Court Street United Methodist Church, or McLaren Hospice.
