James Chris Chaney

November 11, 1955January 18, 2021

CHANEY, JAMES C., of West Liberty, Kentucky, formerly of Flint, Michigan, age 65, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead, Kentucky.

James was born in Pikeville, Kentucky to parents Thomas and Pricey Thacker Chaney. James moved to Flushing, Michigan where he met and married, Sharon Kay Lamb Chaney. After a successful career in the trucking industry, he became a distinguished business owner in Flint, Michigan.

James returned to the place of his birth shortly after the death of his beloved wife, Sharon in 2013. After deciding retirement wasn’t for him, he opened and managed 460 Trailer Sales of West Liberty, Kentucky.

He had a genuine desire to walk a path that was honest and honorable. His earthly prosperity pales in comparison to the unconditional love that he had for his family and friends; a love that is only possible after truly knowing and experiencing Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior.

James is survived by his son, Terry (Dana) Chaney; grandchildren: Nathan, Gavin, Griffin, Ava; sister, Garnell Keen; treasured friend, Barbara Charles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Ted and Curtis Chaney; and two sisters, Avonelle Bartley and Glendine Bates. A private ceremony is planned for the family.

I Corinthians 15:50-58.

It is hard to write this because I feel like I’ve lost one of the dearest people in my life. The memories we made with the grandkids and our families and friends will be forever etched in my heart. The plans we had made that will never come to pass leaves an ache in my heart. I don’t think anyone else could have won over the grandkids as easily as James did. He loved them so much and they loved him right back. Truly an honorable and cherished man. RIP James

You were such a kind soul!!! I’m so glad our paths crossed when you started dating Barb and I would visit Crystal. So many great memories with her family, has you included!!! We went on our first cruise together and had a ball!! You made sure I ate well on my birthday saying ‘I’ll order you the lobster if you’ll eat it.” 🥰 And while camping at Carter Caves just this Fall, you treated ALL THE KIDS to ice cream and they they enjoyed it!! I hate that you were taken too soon from Earth but I know your Heavenly Home is treating you well too, with no pain or suffering!

You will be forever missed by my family. I will miss the Thursday date nights with you and my mom. Charlie will miss his AC and bubble buddy. I will never forget when you let Shelby pile all her stuffed animals on top of you and we couldn’t see you anymore! I’ll never forget how hard you laughed that you cried when we played that funny card game. Or that you loved taco salads— and fixed the best spaghetti. Most of all I will miss you helping me clear the table after dinner and doing dishes with you. May you rest in Heaven until we meet again.
