James was born January 4, 1950 to the late Simon and Gladys (Raymond) Kalfs. He grew up in Flint MI and graduated from Northwestern High School. He worked for Little Ceasars for many years. James enjoyed reading, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by sister, Dorothy Tarrant and many nieces, nephews, friends and special caretaker Zach of Omega House of Caring. He was preceded in death by parents, Simon and Gladys Kalfs, brothers Robert and John Kalfs and sisters, Margaret Welch, Geraldine Buchanan and Mary Ann Kaupp.
