Jerry Lee Bennett of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away Saturday August 15, 2026. Jerry was born as a twin in Flint, Michigan to Harvey and Evelyn Bennett April 22, 1948. He graduated from Atherton High school in 1966. Jerry attended U of M Flint where he earned his BA in Theater Arts. He continued his studies at Oakland University and earned his MA in Theater Arts. Jerry pursued his writing education at USC and and obtained a second MA in Screen Writing. During his time at USC Jerry was awarded First Place by the USC playwrights Guild for his One Act Play "Afterlife". Jerry has published two novels, The Jigsaw Girl and Waiting for Wynd. Jerry additionally authored 18 screenplays , 4 plays and 4 short stories. Besides his passion for writing, Jerry loved nature, sports and his family. It was always Jerry's nature to help anyone and everyone with whom he came in contact. After his retirement from MESCO in Flint Jerry began his volunteer career with FISH of Grand Blanc where he became a super volunteer for over a decade. Jerry is survived by his 4 siblings Douglas Bennett (Gayle) of Londonderry NH, Jeffrey Bennett (Madonna) of Grand Blanc, MI, Richard Bennett of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Susan Jackson (Gary) of Ozark, MO, and sister- in -law Val Wise (Jim) of Grand Blanc, MI. His 10 nieces and nephews, Andrew Bennett (Christine), Timothy Bennett (Laurie), Danielle Bennett (David Hanauer), Christopher Bennett, David Bennett (Carri), Joanna Tarkiewicz (Kristopher), Kevin Fox, Katherine (Katie) Hart (Jacob), Scott Jackson (Shana), Amanda Jadwin (James) as well as 21 great-nieces and great- nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Harvey M. Bennett and his mother, Evelyn I. Bennett (Grove).
Visitation will be held at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, in Grand Blanc, MI on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday August 22,2026 at 10am until service begins. A Funeral Service will take place at Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM, followed by a Graveside Service at Evergreen Cemetery, in Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
