John E. Carelli passed on September 17, 2015. He was 79 years of age.
John was born on May 4, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a loving son to Frank and Rose Carelli (Predeceased). His father and mother were proud owners of Carelli’s Rite-Way shoe rebuilders, Saginaw, Michigan. They both brought John and his two brothers up in a wonderful loving family. John had two brothers Frank Carelli and Thomas Carelli (Predeceased). John graduated from Holy Family Grade and High School. In addition, John had a Bachelors of Science in the field of Education from Central Michigan University and a Masters in Education from Michigan State University. John was a seventh (7th) and eighth (8th) grade Social Studies Teacher both at Mackinaw Middle and White Pine Middle schools both in Saginaw Township, Michigan.
John met his wife Elaine Carelli at a family wedding and has been married to Elaine for 57 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing rounds of golf and was a huge sports fan and enthusiast.
John retired from teaching in 1992 and started to enjoy going to Lady Lake, Florida during the winter months as of 1995 with his wife Elaine.
John and Elaine continued this enjoyable life style until a few years ago when his illness, brought John closer to home in Saginaw, Michigan. John had been loved and cared till his passing by both his wife and children.
John is survived by his wife Elaine Carelli (Elaine Newvine). His eldest son, Michael J. Carelli, Esq. (Fiancé’ Linda Michalak)(Former Daughter In-Law Catherine S. Carelli); His Daughter Susan M. Halably; His Son David E. Carelli (wife Theresa Carelli). John was blessed with Seven (7) grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Jason, Matthew, Andrew, Madison and Dominic. John was preceded by his two parents (Frank and Rose Carelli) and his two brothers (Frank and Thomas Carelli).
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends both here and Florida. John was a handsome and warmed hearted man who lived in his faith as a faithful Catholic.
A memorial service and viewing will be held at Oakwood Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48638 on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 1pm-5pm with Rosary at 4:00pm (located in the reception area). Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 1525 South Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601, with a luncheon to follow. Mr. Carelli will be interred in Saginaw, MI at St. Andrews Mausoleum on Gratiot Road in Saginaw.
