John W. Waters, 91, of Grand Blanc, MI, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021. John was born in Malden, MO on March 5, 1930 and grew up in nearby Sikeston. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth (Tidwell) in 1951 and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He then earned a petroleum engineering degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology. John came to Michigan to take a job with Consumers Power and spent his career in various company locations throughout the state.
John retired from Consumers in 1987, and enjoyed several years traveling with Ruth and spending time with their grandchildren. He and Ruth were married for 67 wonderful years. He will be remembered as a veteran, an artist, and well-loved by his family.
John is survived by his children: Debbie Tate of Sunset, SC and John Waters II (Jana) of Goodrich, MI; grandchildren: Jake (Sharon) Tate, Jennifer Tate, Jack (Gabrielle) Waters, and Bryce Waters. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth, and his son-in-law Bill Tate.
