Jose Soto Jr. – age 90, passed away at home with his family. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to the mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church – 2316 W. Coldwater, Flint, Michigan with Rev. Paul Donnelly officiating. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Flint, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 12pm-8pm with Rosary Prayer Service at 6pm followed by memory sharing at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Jose was born on January 8, 1929 to the late Jose and Erminia Soto in San Antonio, Texas. Jose was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for over 60 years. He had his special seat at church and would arrive two hours before the mass. He enjoyed Mexican music, especially Flaco Jimenez. He worked for GM for 30 years. Jose was the “El Rey” of 1409 Maryland Street. Jose was a gentle father and grandfather. He was a quiet and reserved man, he will be deeply missed. Jose is survived by his children: Visenta Ascencio, Olga Soto, Elodia Vasquez, Marta Turvey, Eligio (Colleen) Soto, Alejandro (Renate) Soto, Maria Chapman, Laura TerBush, Augustina (Joe) Romo, Delia Soto; 21 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sister, Carlotta Soto Powell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Refugia Soto; twin daughters, Maria Josephine and Maria Elena; son, Jose Soto (Chauch); sister, Belia Moreno.
