Joyce Rilla Gaskin

Joyce R. Gaskin, age 94, of Grand Blanc,Michigan went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2025. Joyce was born on August 30, 1931, in Collinsville, Alabama, to the late Marvin and Thelma (Smith) Heard. Joyce was a talented seamstress and dedicated her career to women's retail for many years. Her most beloved moments came from spending time with her three daughters and later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and caring mom who encouraged her daughters to pursue their dreams.

Joyce married Sheldon Gaskin on January 19, 1952, who sadly preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters: Shelda V. Gonser of Grand Blanc, Rebecca (Freddy) Pendergrass of Dickson, TN, and Beverly (Thomas Barnhart) Gaskin of Lake Orion, MI. Grandchildren: Mark Barnhart, Angela (Randy) Wansedel, Sean Gonser, and Soleena Gaskin (Sam Moore). Granny to Matthew Gonser, Madison Green (fiancée, Jonathon Miller), Ryder Wansedel, Wiley Pearl Moore, brother, Max "Buck" (Joyce) Heard. Sister -in- law Hazel Hutchins and loving nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her brothers Noland Heard, Jerry Heard, and Solan Heard, her sister-in-law Sally Heard, and her beloved friend Betty Fritzler.

A graveside service for Joyce will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439.
