Joyce Ann Topham, age 93, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Private family services are being arranged.

Joyce was born on January 28, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to Everett C. Harding and Hazel I. (nee Love) Harding. Joyce married A.W. "Sandy" Topham on December 9, 1948. They were married for 70 years before his passing in 2019. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brother Philip Harding, and sister Mary (nee Harding) Davison.

Joyce graduated from Flint Central High School in 1946, attended Flint Junior College and the University of Michigan-Flint where she graduated with a degree in teaching. She taught 1st Grade in Flint and Grand Blanc, where she retired from in 1986. Sandy and Joyce raised four children, and were blessed by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was always a teacher, from her time in the classroom to an active role in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's education. She also loved reading, puzzles, and knitting... especially hats and mittens for school children during the winter months.

Sandy and Joyce were servants at heart; always giving of their time. After retiring from teaching, they devoted their time to volunteering at church and Ascension Genesys and Acorn Gift Shop. Traveling was a favorite past time as they were able to see so many places throughout the world.

Joyce leaves behind her children: Cynthia (Michael) Dunk, Elizabeth Topham, Matthew Topham, and Martha (David) Stockero; grandchildren: Steven (Stacey) Dunk, Anne (John) Cox, Scott (Rachael) Clouse, Andrew (Karla) Clouse, Peter (Melissa) Clouse, Jay (Brandon) Topham-DuBois-Jones, Jill (Thomas) Winterstein, John (Vivian) Stockero, and Sarah (Anthony) Boyle; and her 13 great-grandchildren.

The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Grand Blanc Heritage Museum, or a charity of your choice.

Mrs. Topham was my first grade teacher at Brendel Elementary and I still have lovely memories of her patience and kindness. She even came to the funeral home to pay respects to my mom in 2017. I was so thrilled to see her again. Peace and love to your family. ❤️

Mrs. Topham was my 2nd grade teacher and I remember her class well. She was a lovely woman and kind teacher. I haven't seen her in over 40 years, but she obviously has left a lasting legacy. My deepest sympathy for your family's loss.

Topham Family
Jodi and I are so sorry for your loss. Living in Indian Hill and working at Genesys we have so many fond memories of Joyce and Sandy. They were the epitome of servant leaders with a sense of humor. Our family will cherish the memories walking in the neighborhood with our twin boys, having great times at the neighborhood Christmas party and chatting at the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Joyce was a good friend from Farnumwood Presbyterian where we both sang in the choir. We traveled with Sandy and Joyce and another couple to Montana and Canada. We have great memories of Joyce to treasure.

Our Christmas's as kids, and our parents running between both houses assembling 9 kids big presents to dressing our dolls! Forever seeing The Topham Smile in everyone's face. When my Mom was at Genyses when it first opened, (1997?) I saw this brightest smile in the World, Joyce's Smile!, Time does freeze pictures in our brain. Mrs. Topham. Joyce. Your Smile lives on! Your Heart and Love lives on. Thank you from the very bottom of my Heart.
