Laverne Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Laverne – of Grand Blanc, went to be with her Lord on October 12. She was 90 years of age. Laverne was born in South Fayette Township, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1927, the daughter of David and Freda Mathews. Laverne grew up in Morgan, Pennsylvania before moving to Flint, Michigan in her late teens. On May 17, 1947 Laverne was happily united in marriage to Ted Schmidt. Together they raised two daughters and made Groveland Township, Holly, their home for 40 years. Laverne was employed as a bookkeeper at Genesee Bank during her early married life. She was a member at Grand Blanc Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Genesys Hospice for many years. Laverne loved to travel, shop for antiques, and most of all cherished time with her family and friends. Laverne was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Ted. She leaves her daughters Christine (Steven) Kuntz, and Nadine (Sam) McAllister of Grand Blanc; granddaughter, Kelli Coates of Lakeside Park, Kentucky; and sisters Jane Valley and Shirley Nelson of Flint. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, 6106 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan with Dr. James M. Leonard officiating.
