Leonard Shelton Wooldridge, Jr., affectionately known as Leonard Jr., age 76, departed this life quietly on Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home in Flint, Michigan. He was born August 26, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Leonard Shelton Wooldridge, Sr. and Nancy (Arnold) Wooldridge.

Leonard Jr. accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan regularly with his mother. He attended the Flint public schools including Northwestern High School and participated on the wrestling team where he earned several metals. He attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Leonard Jr. married Peggy (Wooldridge) McLawhorn, and a son was born of that union, Leonard Shelton Wooldridge, III.

Early in his career, Leonard Jr. worked as an Auditor in the Chevrolet Motor Division of the General Motors Corporation. He also worked for the Household Finance Corporation. Some years later, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Private First Class. Most recently, he worked for several non-profit organizations where he served as a management assistant and caretaker for homeless residents.

Leonard Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Shelton Wooldridge, Sr., his mother, Nancy Wooldridge, his brother, James Hayes, cousin, James Ola Hill and other beloved relatives.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Leonard Shelton Wooldridge, III, one niece, Sharon Hayes-Davis, two nephews, Alvin Hayes, Marvin Hayes, and devoted cousins, Charlene, Peggy Lavern, and James Earl Wooldridge, Jaylene and Andre’ Brion Hill, Rasool ArRhamaan and Floyd Purdy, and cousins once removed, Kameshia Mershea, Tanzania Ayana, and Halimah Narjis, and Jessie Mae ArRahmaan.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on September 5, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The burial will follow at 2:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Bedford Road, Holly, MI 48442.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home at 1480 East Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Flowers or donations may be sent to Brown Funeral Home to the attention of The Wooldridge Family.
