BLESSING, Lois I. – Age 87, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at University of Michigan Hospital. Mrs. Blessing was born October 9, 1924 in Detroit the daughter of Manly and Pauline (Underhill) Abernathy. Lois worked for Blessing Company as a bookkeeper. After retirement she wintered in Bradenton, Florida and summered along Crooked Lake near Fairview, Michigan. Lois was a caring homemaker and loving mother and is survived by her children, Sandra (James) Gehman, Richard Blessing, Susan (Dennis) Boychuck, Robert (Julie) Blessing; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Mrs. Blessing was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Blessing in 1993 and her sister, Barbara Pontius. Friends may visit the family from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Schulte will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
