Maria was born in Newark, NJ, on October 30, 1946. She married Richard D’Alessio December 31, 1964, and shared 41-1/2 years of marriage until his death in 2006. She moved to Grand Blanc, MI, in 1980, and was a stay-at-home mother until her daughters were older, at which time she began working at ReMax Grande doing administrative office support. She retired in 2017.
Maria was outgoing, fun loving and benevolent. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and wordsearches, watching crime shows and game shows, and cooking, specializing in Italian cuisine.
Maria will be missed by her children, Lorraine Barber on Burton, Kathleen and Mike Vincent of Dacula, GA, and Kimberly D’Alessio of Burton. Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren, Aric Besso of Rochester Hills, Arianna Barber of Burton, Tayler Armstrong of Argentine and Emily and Nathan Vincent of Dacula, GA. She will also be missed by many cherished family members and friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard D’Alessio, parents, Pompeo and Frances Schiavo, sister, Palma Mess, parents-in-law, Angelo and Rita D’Alessio and brother-in-law, Angelo D’Alessio.
Visitation Tuesday, August 25, 5:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 26, 1:00-4:00pm and 5:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass Thursday, August 27, with viewing from 9:00am until time of the service at 10:00am. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery will follow at 1pm.
