March 27, 1933 – March 29, 2021
“Grams” was a quiet woman who loved her family in a loud way. Marilyn Jean Jackson passed away on March 29, 2021. Although she has left her family physically, she will always live on in their hearts.
With four children, 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, there were plenty of people for Marilyn to love. Family was the number one priority for her, and this is a lesson she passed on to her kids. Marilyn would say her biggest accomplishment was raising her children and a perfect day would be spent with as many of her family members as possible.
If she wasn’t sitting around the kitchen table sharing a meal with her loved ones, Marilyn enjoyed being outside. Among some of her favorite activities were camping and yard work where she was able to appreciate nature and Michigan’s four seasons.
She kept her thinking sharp by doing word searches and watching game shows. Marilyn also loved recounting the stories of her grandchildren being born. And hugs … she loved to give them and she loved to receive them! Nothing was better than a hug from Grams.
Marilyn was a blessing to all who knew her. As long as everyone around her was happy, she was happy. Her family will miss feeling her fierce love for them each day, but the way she communicated her value for each of them individually will help them endure her absence.
Passing away two days after her 88th birthday, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Mitchell Jackson and grandson Jason Garcia. She is survived by son Michael (Michelle) Jackson; daughters Karen (Cresencio) Garcia and Connie (Danny) Hawley; grandchildren Chris (Melissa) Jackson, April (Brian) Slayton, Steve (Stacee) Garcia, Matt Garcia, Penny Garcia, Garrett (Kelly) Jackson, Candace (Dave) Brandreth, James (Sarah) Jackson and Tonya (Jeff) Bollett; 20 dearly loved great grandchildren; brother Harold Kennedy and sister Donna Schmidt.
