Matthew Gibson Curtis, 71, died Thursday, November 13, at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He was born in Delaware, Ohio (a fact he never claimed), the fourth of nine children born to the late Carlton “Curt” and Katy Curtis.
Matt moved to Flint at 6 months old and was a lifelong, die-hard Flintstone. He was an avid golfer, devoted University of Michigan sports fan, and loved Mott Community College, where he worked for 25+ years. He never met a stranger and collected a multitude of friends from every walk of life. The happiest guy in the room, he was someone everyone could depend on and was always there to help those who needed it.
Matt is preceded in death by his parents and sister Megan. He is survived by his wife, Rae Curtis; daughters, Quinn Curtis and Mallory (Ryan) Simmons; stepsons Stephen (Nadra) Higgerson, Timothy (Holly) Higgerson, and Kyle (Elyse) Higgerson; ten grandchildren; seven siblings; and many, many special family members and friends.
