Myles Douglas Hansard, cherished son of Craig and Adrian Hansard, passed on peacefully in mommy’s arms on March 6, 2024. Myles was diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a rare chromosomal disorder that causes a multitude of irregularities due to an additional copy of all or part of chromosome 13.
Myles was born on January 9, 2024 weighing 6 lbs 9 oz. One of the prevalent traits of Trisomy 13 is a slow growth rate, but he stood out from the crowd and grew to 14 lbs in his 57 days. Defying the odds was a trademark of his. From the initial shock of learning of his presence, through each doctor visit, his birth, and his time spent in the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Brandon Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, he continually surprised us by defying the odds.
Myles was clearly happiest and most comfortable when being held. It was truly where he belonged, in the arms of those who loved him. Though his time was far too brief, he was so adored by his siblings, extended family, and received constant cuddles and kisses from mom and dad.
Myles spent practically his whole life within 4 walls, but that confined space was bursting with love from all who interacted with him. In those 4 walls, he taught all of us that no matter what’s going on in our lives, what obstacles we have in front of us, what we’re being told we can’t do, that we can always make strides and progress beyond expectations.
Myles leaves to mourn his passing, his loving parents, Craig & Adrian Hansard of Grand Blanc, MI; four sisters, Emily, Kimmie, Bryelle and Graycen; maternal grandparents, Ray and Ginger Straub of Grand Blanc, MI; paternal grandmother Yvonne Coleman of Chesterfield, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other loved ones.
Myles was preceded in death by his big brother, Bryce Douglas and Paternal Grandfather, General Douglas, who no doubt both welcomed him to his final home with open protective arms.
Visitation will be held Tuesday March 12, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan.
