Pauline E. Dayhuff passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 96 years of age. She was born in Flint, MI on October 1, 1923 to Elmer Lewis and Joy Ruby Lulu Thompson Raby. When she was 16 she met George Dugald MacKellar, and after her high school graduation she and George were married August 15, 1942. During their ten years together as husband and wife, three children were born: Barbara, Ruth Ann, George. In 1952 after a brief illness George Dugald died, a loss Pauline would never fully recover from. After a time she met and married Edward James Godwin and they had a son, Edward James, Jr. During her younger years she had been employed at the AC Spark Plug, an elementary school secretary for Flint Public Schools, and secretary for the Flint Multiple Listing Exchange. She was always very busy in her church, a leader in Vacation Bible Schools, Girls Missionary Class, church conferences and other events. She had a lifelong love of reading which led to her special gift of developing and organizing libraries. She was instrumental in the growing of libraries at Atlas Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, Grand Blanc, and in two senior apartment complexes where she resided, Grand Meadows in Grand Blanc and Westminster Meadows in Grand Rapids. She will be missed for her dedication and hard work but we are confident the work she started will continue to grow.
