René Robert Brousseau

René was born February 9, 1951 in Rouyn, Québec and grew up in Point Edward, Ontario. He lived most of his adult life in Michigan where he owned a successful business in Detroit until his retirement. René had a lot of passions, but especially loved to be with family, traveling, puzzles, a good book, playing cards, and most of all making people laugh. A devoted sports fan, René enthusiastically followed the Detroit Tigers and Lions, win or lose. He was also an accomplished 5-string banjo player who loved bluegrass music.

René was predeceased by his parents, Oram and Georgette Brousseau. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his wife of 52 years, Debra; his children, Justin (Jennifer) and Jessica (Doug); grandchildren, Jack, Jon, Quinn and Margot; brothers Mike, Jacques, and Dan and sister Diane; as well as his brothers- and sisters-in-law, many cherished nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

René will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of family and friends, unrivaled sense of humor, generosity, work ethic, and the joy he found in simply being together with those he cared about. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Michigan. A funeral service will be held at Hill Funeral Home on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

René’s family would like to express their gratitude to the medical team at the University of Michigan Health Frankel Cardiovascular Center for the many years of exceptional care, compassion, and support.
