

GRIMM, Robert A. (Bob) – of Grand Blanc, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at The Pines Assisted Living in Lake Fenton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, MI with Rev. Harold Polk officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Robert was born on October 10, 1927 in Duluth, MN. He graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1946, Flint Junior College in 1948, The University of Detroit in 1951, Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1953 and received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1968. Bob served in the United States Navy from 1944 – 1947 and in the Naval Reserve from 1947 – 1951. Robert’s long engineering career included one year at Indiana Steel Production, Valparaiso, four years at Spartan Electronics in Jackson, MI and 35 years at AC Spark Plug in Flint, MI. As Chief Engineer of Instrument Controls at AC Spark Plug, Bob had the opportunity to travel on numerous occasions to Germany, Japan, Russia, Australia, England and many other countries. Although these travels were difficult times to be away from his family they were times that brought Bob great joy and wonderful memories. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Shirley May Watchorn, on June 18, 1948 in Flint, MI and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2002. Bob and Shirley were married for 54 years and had five children. Deborah Flewelling (Dennis), Douglas Grimm (Denise), Donna Fulgham (Johnnie), David Grimm (Rebecca Sova), Lisa Moore (William Bradley Moore). Bob also leaves 1 brother, 2 sisters, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with one more on the way and 1 great-great-grandchild. Robert’s life was based on a strong belief in hard work, good education, and taking care of his family.
