

Robert Wayne “Bob” Longroy passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the age of 88. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11am with one hour visitation prior to the service at Hill Funeral Home -11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, August, 30, 2019 from 3pm-7pm at Hill Funeral Home. Interment to be at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI. Robert was born May 10, 1931 to Arthur & Cornelia (Schipansky) Longroy of Grand Blanc, MI. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1949 and married Shirley May Alles on December 27, 1952, and later graduated from Flint Community Junior College. He lived most of his life in Grand Blanc. Bob worked in the Tool & Die department at the Fisher Body plant in Flint for 30 years and rose to level of general foreman. After retirement he became an independent marketing executive with Melaleuca. He had been in the Michigan National Guard part time and was on duty for the Beecher tornado of 1953. He served as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 368 of Grand Blanc. He was a long-term member of the Chancel Choir at Faith Lutheran Church of Grand Blanc, sang in their Men’s Chorus and other small ensembles, and served in several other capacities. He performed frequently with the Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus, and competed with his quartet, Time Out! Through his life he loved singing, sailing, bowling, biking, and walking. He regularly walked in the Crim Festival of Races and was a frequent medalist in the Senior Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and also daughter Patsy French. Surviving are his brother Allan Longroy (Ruth) of Fort Wayne, IN, children Sally Longroy (Jim Snook) of Dallas, TX, and David Longroy (Kim) of Flushing, grandchildren Mike French (Anne) of Lake Orion, Christy French of Grand Blanc, Justin Longroy (Audrey) of Reno, NV, Emma Longroy of Flushing, Becky Kleinedler of Flushing, Jacque Kleinedler of Reno, NV, Jesse Kleinedler (Scott Emond) of Reno, NV, and Katy Churchill (Rob) of Kansas City, KS, twelve great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc or the Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus.
