Ron was born in Flint, Michigan, in 1944. He graduated from St. John Vianney High School in 1962, where he was voted Best Dancer of his senior class. He also excelled in football, basketball, and track. He was a graduate of Flint Junior College and Western Michigan University, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Ron was hired into General Motors at Fisher Body on Coldwater Rd. in 1967, and retired in 2003 after 39 years with General Motors. He enjoyed home improvement, and he could over-engineer the simplest of projects, most of which he actually finished! Ron spent his life as an avid golfer and spent many days on the golf course with friends, seeking the elusive hole-in-one. When not on the golf course, he was a loving family man who enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, playing chess, and camping. He is leaving behind a family camping legacy, having just celebrated the 33rd annual Burdgick Family Camping Trip. Ron was a proud member of the Flint Elks, Lodge #0222, from 1990-2026.

Ron is survived by his his loving wife of 61 years, Diane (Shirkey); children Mark (Jennifer), Thomas (Kelly), Jane (Matthew) Chittle, and Peter; grandchildren Emily, Mary (Ryan), Collin, Corey (Jami), Abigail (Nicholas), Sarah, Sophia, and Anna; and great-grandson Evan. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Edna (Pearsall), and brothers Richard and Gary.
