Roy married Sally Ann Schillag in 1953, and together they raised their four children in Royal Oak, MI. He discovered his love of the open road a bit later in life, enjoying bike trips all over the United States. Many family trips revolved around his love of the ride and whatever his granddaughters wanted to do!
After becoming a widower in 2005, Roy had a chance meeting with a lovely lady named Charlene at a family wedding, not knowing that he had just received another chance at happiness! Roy and Charlene married and enjoyed their retirement, making new friends at their home on the Muskegon River in Evart, MI.
Roy is survived by his son Bruce (Delanie) Farough, sister Shirley (Bob) Harris, son-in-law Gary Sommer, granddaughters Heather (Jason) Thorne and Kimberley (Jeremy) Evitts, his great grandchildren Eric and Ashley, along with nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roy and Miriam Farough, his son Edwin Farough, his wife Sally Ann Farough, his son Roy Farough, his sister Miriam Farough, his wife Charlene Farough, and recently his only daughter Peggy Sommer, and his beloved dog Bennie.
Cremation has taken place and Roy will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery, located at 4200 Belford Rd, Holly Mi 48442 at 1:00pm on Tuesday October 6th, 2026.
