

HUGHEY, Roy F. – Age 79, of Flint, died Sunday June 5, 2011 after a heroic battle over a lengthy illness. Mr. Hughey was born April 26, 1932 in Dickson, Tennessee the son of Roy S. and Hettie L. (Knight) Hughey. Mr. Hughey served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Fisher Body I where he worked Skilled Trades in Maintenance. Mr. Hughey was a member of Grand Blanc Church of Christ and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Goodrich Lodge 548. On March 24, 1954 Roy married Sylvia J. Crowe and she survives him. Also surviving are children, Theresa M. (Ron) Ancira, Barry (Michele) Hughey, Ronald D. Hughey; grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Bethany, Emily, Angela, Branden, Rory, Chelsea; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Farris Maynor, Dimple Clifton, Shirley Rector, Madge Smith, Glema Walker; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by his son, Gary D. Booker and brother, Athel V. Hughey. Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening and 12 noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the funeral home. Mr. Tony McKee will officiate. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
