Sally Ann Burek

June 6, 1940 – August 15, 2026

Sally Ann Burek departed this life on August 15, 2026.  Sally was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 6, 1940.  She was the daughter of the late Francis W. and Maline Cooper.  Sally began school in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School and Central Michigan University.  At Central Michigan she met the love of her life, Bob Burek.  They raised their three daughters, Melissa, Amy, and Wendy with love and a strong family foundation.  They had countless memories together that included everything from family dinners to annual fun-filled vacations and memories in Florida, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and Kentucky.  Her family was always her priority, and she was a wonderful and loving mom to her daughters.  She was a devoted wife, supporting her husband at every step of their life.  Their love and support of one another, as well as their family, was a source of great pride to Sally.  Their wonderful journey together spanned 64 years.

Sally began her teaching career in Clare, Michigan, and continued in Grand Blanc.  She spent many years working at Durakon, Inc., Martec Plastics, and Martec Products International.  

Sally lived life to the fullest and was always ready for the next social activity.  Fondly known as "Party Sal", Sally loved being with her friends in addition to her family.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, euchre and poker, as well as the girls’ weekends with her friends.  She was a loyal and generous friend with a loving heart.

Her accolades include past President of St. Francis Guild, Delta Zeta Sorority, Flint Area Delta Zeta Alumnae, and the Fenton Bayview Club.

As her family grew, her grandchildren became one of her greatest joys and supporting them became she and Bob’s priority.  She enjoyed countless birthday celebrations, sporting events, recitals, and graduations.  She never missed an important milestone in their lives.  She will be treasured forever in their hearts and memories.  

Sally is survived by her husband, Bob, and her daughters Melissa, Amy (Michael) Thompson, and Wendy (Michael) Locascio, grandchildren, Jimmy, John and Rachel Thompson, and Matt, Danny, Tommy and Sean Locascio, sister Mary Oudsema and her children Shelly (Scott), Rob (Lindsay), and Suzy (Chris) and her grandchildren, her nephew Greg (Sue) Cocke and their children and grandchildren, niece Nicole Schmidt, nephews Michael (Gail) and Jeffrey (Gretchen) Munroe, and countless cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Peter and Mary Burek, and sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Lynn Munroe. Her family will miss her very much as she was a special part of their lives.

The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, Julie Brannon, Barb O'Reilly, and those who provided amazing support to Sally and to the entire family.  We would also like to thank the staff at the Oaks at Woodfield, especially the director Kelly Glynn for unrelenting care and support over the last six months. We are beyond grateful.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3:30-7 pm, at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan.  Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, with a visitation from 9-10 am followed by a funeral mass at 10 am, both held at the Church of the Holy Family, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan.  Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the mass.
