

Stanley Harrison Ries, age 89 of Burton, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017. He was born on September 24, 1927 in Flint to parents Harry and Lola (Bedell) Ries. Stanley proudly served in the United States Army for two years toward the end of WWII. He retired from General Motors as a fork lift driver. Stanley spent much of his time volunteering and was a faithful member of The Point Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He liked to keep himself busy with handyman jobs and was always finding something to work on around the house. Stanley is survived by his son, Rodney (Suzie) Ries; grandchildren: Greg, Dawson, Caylee, Ryan, Tyler, and Felisha; great grandchildren: Garrett and Graden; foster sister, Diane Smith. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Shirley Ries; foster brother, Clarence Miller. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. Pastor Josh Combs officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 10am – 2pm and 4 – 8pm at Hill Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association.
