Dear Mr & Mrs. Halter, family and friends, My sincere condolences for the tragic loss of such a wonderful human being. I've been thinking about all of you and saying prayers daily and hope that each day finds you a touch closer to peace. Steve was an exeptional friend and someone who really connected deeply with those that knew him. I feel graced to have been Steve's pledge father at the Sigma Chi house and the enthusiasm and character that he brought to the house is unsurpassed. Dear Mr. & Mrs. Halter and family,
I just heard of Steve's passing today.  I have so many fond memories of playing golf with Steve at the Owosso Country Club, we would paly two to three times a week when he lived here.  I will always remember those days we had such a good time no mater how we played.  He will be missed.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Halter and family -
I was so sad to hear about the loss of Steve.  He was a great friend all through college and our early adult years.  While we had not been as close in recent years, it was always like old times whenever we'd connect.  Steve was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.  My prayers are with you.

I have such fond memories of Steve from our days at Albion.  A true brother.  My sincere condolences to you and your family.  He will be missed, but I'll carry his memory with me.

I just today heard about Steve's passing from another fraternity brother.  I'm shocked to say the least...I had tried many times to contact Steve when I lived in Kalamazoo but we never managed to get together.  He was really one of my best friends throughout college and I'll remember what a kind person he was and what a great friend and brother he was to me.

I met Steve 2 1/2 years ago here at 5/3rd.  I was always afraid of Steve at first with his rough exterior, but found a way around that and got to know him.  Steve had a bigger heart than he wanted anybody to know about.  

Steve had become such a big part of my family after the loss of Patti and he will be missed dearly.  We had become such great friends and most of all, he was a big brother to me.  My children all looked up to him.  We have alot of good memories of Steve and he will be in our thoughts and heart forever.  

I am saddened but comforted knowing he is with Patti now.

So sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

It is with sadness that I discovered that Steve had passed.  He was my friend in high school at Grand Blanc.  I remember him as a good man with a good heart.  I pray that God will comfort you in this time of grief.

I worked with Steve at Old Kent Bank many years ago. I am happy to say that I always considered him a friend.  I remember fondly our lunches at 401 Restaurant:  Turkey Burgers and Cheesecake!  I am so sorry for your loss.  Steve will be missed.

I worked with Steve starting way back when @ Pacesetter or was it First Security?... when he was a co-op student. Watched him mature into a respected friend, husband and banker. I am so sorry.

The Halter Family:
I met Steve 5 years ago when I returned to work at what he affectionately called "The Big 5 and 3". Over the following year we came to have a great deal respect for each and formed a strong friendship that I still feel today. I could never have a conversation with Steve without him calling me "My Friend" at least once. When he called me that, I knew he was not just saying it....he meant it. He has been "My Friend" and ever shall he be. 

I'm deeply saddened for your loss of a son, a brother; for his stepchildren, a father figure, for myself and for so many others a truly good friend. But, I am also comforted by the knowledge that Steve is now with the great love of his mortal life. The one that he was always meant to be with. 

To Mr. & Mrs. Halter; You did raise a truly good man. Thank you for showing him this world and molding him into the man he was. I am greatful to have had him as a close friend.

Ken and Joyce, I know your hearts are broken by the loss of Steve.  I too am so sorry to hear this news.  The photo gallery is a grand tribute to Steve, I have fond memories with Steve and the music program and handbell choir at GBUMC. He could be quite a "character" and always brought us laughter! Dear Halter family and friends -
I worked with Steve for about 5 years and I always enjoyed his dry humor. His heart was 10 times bigger than he wanted others to know. I often told him that he reminded me of the tv show character "House". I will watch it and remember him. Knowing that he is back in the arms of his beloved wife makes his passing a little easier.
We are all blessed for having our lives touched by his.

To Ken Halter, whom I knew in Buick's Bldg 85, I am sure your Steve was a man's man and true gentleman, just like you, Ken. My thoughts go to you and your family in your time of sorrow and loss.

To Steve's Family - I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Steve over the past 14 years.  I never had a dull conversation with Steve and enjoyed his sense of humor.  It was not that long ago that we were consoling Steve about the loss of his wife.  I do find comfort in knowing that they are now together but I will miss Steve and that grin on his face. Mr. and Mrs. Halter - I am beyond shocked and saddened. Steve was a great guy, so much fun and so nice, kind, thoughtful - not like the other boys at school! His playground antics at Cook, easy going grin and little jokes in school (and Sunday school!) always made me laugh. He always drew little cartoons on the requisite classroom Valentine cards, an extra personal touch to his signature. Nothing but fond memories of a dear friend in school and at church. Deep, heartfelt condolences to you and the rest of the Halter family.

To Steve's Family...we are so going to miss him in our neighborhood. We truly enjoyed his friendship and his love for Disney.  I was glad to know someone enjoyed that as much as I did. Our prayers are with you all.

I have known Steve for the better part of 15 years as a co-worker and friend. Early on I saw through Steve;'s sometimes rough exterior and saw what a wonderful, kind, giving, loving man he is and was. Granted I did not always see eye to eye with Steve however I learned quickly he did not want you to. Steve would rather you engage in the give and take of conversation to go beyond just a casual conversation but to truly understand the importance of developing a relationship that is honest, caring and real. That is how I will remember Steve. He wore is heart and at times his emotions on his sleeve. I always knew where I stood with Steve. I am a better person because I was lucky enough to have known Steve Halter, plus I have awhole new appreciation for Mickey Mouse and Disneyland!


You rasied a very good man in Steven Charles Halter and you should be very proud.

I met Steve at the start of last year.

He was very passionate about his family.

He was quite the character. He always made me laugh. Constantly cracking jokes and making faces.

We would go on long walks and he would share his memories of Patti and tell me about his family and trips to Disney.

I will miss him greatly.
