Suzanne Marie Snyder, age 81, of Grand Blanc and Traverse City, passed peacefully from her beloved new home in Traverse City, MI on November 16, 2107, to be received by our Lord Jesus Christ, whom she has known all her life and in whom she enjoyed unwavering faith, trust, and loving friendship. Though she grieved to leave her earthly family and friends, she happily anticipated her reunion with Austin L. “Skip” Snyder, her loving husband to whom she remained devoted since he passed in 1984. Undoubtedly, Suzy is welcomed by her parents, Matthew and Edna Laux (Sutter); sister Genevieve; brothers Richard “Dick” Laux and Laverne “Larry” Laux, with wife Gloria; and Richard Wagner beloved husband of Vera (Laux); her in-laws Kolis D. and Helen Christy; daughter-in-law Andrea Snyder (Barneby), and those family and friends who preceded her arrival in paradise and whom we all hold so dear. Suzy was born November 2, 1936 in Flint, MI. She graduated St. Matthew High School, Class of 1954. She and Skip were wed on June 17, 1961. Suzy was the proud mother of Christopher J. (Kimberly Babcock), Constance L. (Carl Lyons), Jeffrey L. (Michele Thompson), David A. (Jennifer Coats), Thomas E., and Patrick A. Snyder. She is proud grandma to Nikolis, Austin, Nolan, Erin, Andrew and Drake Snyder, and Lucas Lyons and special “Grandma Sue” to Zachary Coats. Suzy was coach Snyder’s assistant coach and partner in what she called “Snyder’s taxi service,” to ferry kids and neighbors to practices and ballgames from the mid 1970’s to ‘80’s. She endured the devastating loss of Skip in January 1984 and Dick in 1985. She began work at Holy Family Church as a Secretary in December 1990. She found solace and refuge at Holy Family Church, which became her second home. Suzy emerged from grief with renewed purpose and vigor during her eleven years of employment at Holy Family. She loved her “55 and Older” group, her classmates, and the “Red Hats.” She gave generously of her time to the Church and to her friends. She was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Salesian Missions, Veterans and others. She loved her Tigers and Red Wings. Above all, she loved her family (immediate and extended), and she adored her grandchildren. Suzy lived her last year in Traverse City happily with her best friend, her devoted daughter, Connie. As her end approached, Suzy’s spirit was buoyed by a steady stream of well-wishers. Family, clergy, and friends old and new, from near and far, were always welcomed. We were blessed by her sense of humor to the very end. Suzy was anointed by her beloved friend Fr. James Swiat on November 10th and received the last rites on November 14th. She was sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor, and more. Suzy loved all as her own and many came to think of her like second mother. She was blessed those who visited and those who kept her in thought and prayer. A Funeral Mass with be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S.
