February 3, 1945 - March 14, 2014
Skip Carsten was a Colorado native. He resided in Grand Junction for the last 13 years. His beautiful soul transitioned to another realm on March 14, 2014, while in the care of HopeWest Hospice. Skip had a brilliant mind with a great understanding of mathematics. As an electrical engineer he designed products utilized worldwide. It is significant he passed away on 3-14, which is Pi Day; Pi being a mathematical constant, a fundamental part of the universe, a number that goes on forever.
Skip spent his life giving to everyone whether it be a love of education, laughter, or creating beautiful memories. He believed anything was possible. His family and friends never questioned his love and genuiness as it was shown daily through his actions, integrity, and total selflessness. He gave the gift of being the pillar of the family, of teaching through his role modeling the importance of true familial love and the value of close relationships.
Skip is survived by his wife, Dorette; sons, Ron Carsten (Toni); Rick Carsten (Sandi), and daughter, Janelle Carsten (Joe Barrows). He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Carsten. He has ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom were his pride and joy.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. March 21st at the Church of the Nativity, 2175 Broadway.
Arrangements under the direction of Martin Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO.
