Alfred Samuel Heckman

Alfred S. Heckman passed away August 22, 2015, at the Aspen Ridge Special Care Center in Grand Junction, he was 96.Alfred was born on October 7, 1918, in Stapleton, Nebraska from the union of Elmer and Bessie Heckman. He spent his childhood in Stapleton, NE and had previously lived in Cheyenne, WY and Arvade, CO before moving to Grand Junction, CO . Alfred was a machinist for Union Pacific Railroad and the Atomic Energy Commission, Rocky Flats, CO. He was of the Baptist faith and served honorably in the United States Army during WWII with the rank of First Sergeant. He enjoyed spending his pastime fishing and hunting. He was a good hearted person and liked to help other people. Alfred leaves behind a son, Allen and Lenord Heckman of Alliance, NE; daughter; Betty Lou Ford of Coeur d'Alene, ID; brother, Jack R. Heckman of Rifle, CO; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Heckman. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Martin Mortuary with a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
