

Alma C. Bera, age 81, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. Alma peacefully departed this world while at home, surrounded by her loving family. Alma was born on December 13, 1941 in Taos, New Mexico. She relocated to Grand Junction as a teen, where she met and married the love of her life, Juan (Johnny) Bera. Alma and Johnny raised 3 children in Grand Junction where the family enjoyed the outdoors spending time camping, hunting, and fishing. Alma was also a loving caregiver and an exceptional cook who enjoyed spending her free time gardening or walking with her friends at the mall.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny Bera, and siblings Virginia Maldonado and Ramundo (Stephen) Romero.
Survivors include her siblings, Pauline Sisneros, Angie Sawyer and Bernice Bera; Children Zita Bera, Michael Bera and wife Kimberly, and Valerie Bera; Grandchildren Dawn and husband Javier, Dominic and wife Angel, Emanuel (Junior), Phillip, Brendan and wife Jessica, Tashena, Joshua and wife Alexa; and Great-grandchildren Taylor, Stone, Anthony, Harper, Remington (Remi) and Letti.
In accordance with Alma’s Catholic faith, we will be gathering for an intercessory rosary, where we will join in prayer to seek God’s mercy and grace for her soul. We invite all family and friends to join us Thursday November 16 at 5:00pm, Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO.
We will celebrate a Funeral Mass in honor of Alma on Friday November 17th, 2023 at 11:00am at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grand Junction, CO, immediately followed by the rite of committal at Orchard Mesa Cemetery, where Alma will be laid to rest. This sacred and solemn ceremony will be the final opportunity for us to say our heartfelt goodbyes, entrusting her soul to God’s eternal care.
Alma leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering devotion. Her memory will forever reside in our hearts, and her life will continue to inspire us. In this time of grief, let us find solace in our shared faith, knowing that she is now at peace in the loving embrace of our Lord.
