Andy; husband, daddy, papa, brother, son, and friend to too many to count, is sitting on the throne with our Savior. He is no longer hurting. He is free and he is dancing and rejoicing with His father. He has left behind the rest of us here on Earth, clenched with a pain hard to fathom. Yet let us not forget where he is. Let us not dwell on the future that will be without his handsome, warm grin, for we do not know when our hour will come. Let us dwell, meditate, remember, honor, and rejoice the time that we did have with him here, and all of those precious moments we were blessed with his presence.
There truly was never a more selfless man. His whole life revolved around taking care of others and serving them with genuine compassion. We could sit here and recount his careers, the places he lived, the accomplishments he received, but none of that matters. Because no matter where he was, what stage of life he was in, he was who he was—a treasure from above.
He spent that last 29 years leading, guiding, protecting, providing for, and unconditionally loving his precious wife, Terri, and three children, Jess, Ben, and Michaela. The legacy continued as he became Papa to two precious grandsons, Jackson and Jayden.
No amount of pen and ink, or time spent recapping, will be able to relay how absolutely extraordinary he was. His smile lit up a room. He had the best hugs that said a million words in one embrace. Above all, Andy loved the Lord with his whole being. He spent his life relentlessly pursuing his Papa’s will. And now he is home.
I urge you, let that pain that is overwhelming your heart and soul be used to honor this incredible man. Let it turn into love that you extend to someone in need. Let it be the courage you need to mend a broken relationship. Let it be the reminder to hold your babies a little tighter when you tuck them in. Let it be the chance to love your spouse with more humility. Let it be the brave step to pursue the one true God who made, crafted, and loved the same man we all did. Let us honor Andy with our love, because his whole life is summed up in that four letter word—love. May he rest in our hearts forever, until we make it home to be with him.
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled or fearful.” John 14:27
