Anna May passed away peacefully in Grand Junction on March 4th following an extended illness. She was born in Olpie, Kansas to Mary Etta Funk and Floyd Arthur Davidson on November 26, 1934. The Davidsons moved to Craig, Colorado in 1936 and she spent her childhood in Craig along with her 4 brothers; George, Ralph, Kenneth and Charles.
At the age of 17 Ann married Charles McClane and gave birth to her first child Beverly, in 1952. She married Charles Bergman in 1953 and that union resulted in 3 more children; Steven, Randall, and Peggy. Chuck worked on seismographic crews and they spent their time in several Western Slope communities raising their family.
Ann married Lewis Kenneth Hutton in 1966. She welcomed his 4 children into the family and always considered them to be her kids. Kenny worked as a welder and later owned Wade Electric in Craig. In the 1970s, they bought the Robertson homestead cabin located on the north side of Bakers Peak. After all the children left Craig, she and Kenny spent summers on Baker‘s Peak and enjoyed visiting with friends in Las Vegas during winter months. Anyone who knew them realized Kenny was the greatest love of her life and she cherished every day they had together. In 1987 they bought a home in Dixon, Wyoming where they both made many dear friends and loved the community along the Little Snake River. Ann became involved with the Senior Center in Dixon and Kenny served a term as Mayor of Dixon. They both enjoyed nothing more than company and opened their homes, both in town and on “The Peak”, to many friends and family over the years.
Once Kenny was gone and she experienced serious health issues, she moved to Fruita in 2002 to be closer to family that could assist in her later years. She made many friends right away and became active in the Senior Center there. Ann loved cooking and sharing food with as many friends as possible. She continued her membership with the Rebekah Lodge and served that organization in the Grand Valley until their charter ended.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, all 4 brothers, 2 husbands and her close friend Jim Pierson. She is survived by her 4 children; Bev (Don) Cheatham of Georgia, Steve (Carol) Bergman of Fruita, Randy (Tami) Bergman of Utah, and Peggy (Mike) Stears of Idaho, as well as her 4 stepchildren Stella McGruder, Jackie Boeher, Tim Hutton and Tom Hutton.
Anna May has been cremated and will be interred next to Kenny in the Reader Cemetery in Savery, Wyoming later this year. Making a donation to hospice (Hope West in Grand Junction) or to your favorite charity in her name is a great way to honor this fine woman that was loved by so many.
