Austin Dowd, 26 born on January 25, 2000 in Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on October 26, 2026, leaving behind a family who loves him dearly and a void that can never truly be filled. His life was taken far too soon, and he will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Austin was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was stubborn in the way only Austin could be. He was kindhearted, funny, and incredibly smart — even if he sometimes tried to hide just how smart he really was. He had a personality all of his own, and those who knew him will forever remember his humor, his determination, and the memories they shared with him.
More than anything, Austin loved to golf. It was a passion that brought him much happiness, and maybe some anger as well and anyone who knew him knew just how much the game meant to him. He was also an incredible blade hand and trackhoe operator, with a natural talent and intelligence that made him exceptional at what he did. He had a gift for running equipment and a mind that could figure things out, even when he didn’t give himself credit for just how talented he was. He loved to tinker with his mustang or any vehicle he had he would take things apart just for the heck of it to try and make it better. When Austin was 15 he rescued a dog from the dog park that had clearly been abused and dumped there. Austin loved and brought Cali back to life. She lived a long healthy life with him before she passed away earlier this year. Austin had a heart for dogs in need recently he adopted a dog named Cypher from Roice Hurst after being in the shelter for over a year. They were the perfect match. They both brought so much happiness to each other’s lives.
Above all, Austin loved his family. He was deeply loved in return, and the memories, laughter, and moments shared with him will be treasured for a lifetime. Twenty-six years was not nearly enough time with someone who meant so much to so many. His passing leaves behind heartbreak that words cannot fully express, but the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will never fade.
Austin is survived by his mother, Rebecca Dowd; his father Curtis (Heidi) Dowd, his sister Kyra (Nick, Braylee and Lathan) Brach; his grandparents Tom and Karen Moulden; Ben (Laura) Dowd; his aunt and uncle Barb and Thad Bingham, his cousins, Brooke (Oscar) Salazar and Bailey (Jackson) Bingham; his aunt Lisa Elmer and his cousins Dejon (Carolyn) Elmer, and Macy (JA) Norton along with many other family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nana (Lela) Dowd, Grandma Dowd, Great Grandpa John (Anne) and beloved dog Cali
Austin was taken from this world far too soon. There will forever be moments when his family wishes for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more round of golf, and just a little more time with him. Though his time here was much too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with those who love him for the rest of their lives.
Hit them far hit them straight. Forever loved. Forever missed. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.
