

Mrs. Barbara Jean “Barb” Bosshardt (Manzanares), age 70, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Born on February 25, 1956, in Fruita, Colorado, Barbara lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family and community.
Barbara grew up in Grand Junction and attended Riverside Elementary, Grand Junction Junior High, and Grand Junction High School. During her school years, she showcased her talents by playing the viola and was a member of Grand Junction Tigerettes alongside her sisters. She also participated in Brownies and Girl Scouts. These early experiences reflected her vibrant spirit and love for music and dance.
Barbara’s life centered around her family. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Charles “Chuck” Bosshardt, and a proud mother to her children: Michelle Bosshardt, Melanie Bosshardt, Joe Bottino (son-in-law), Nathaniel (Tyler) Bosshardt, Susan Bosshardt (daughter-in-law), Brittany Smith-Bosshardt, and Tiffany Smith (daughter-in-law). Her grandchildren—Matthew Martinez, Abigayle Raley, Antonio DeHerrera, Lealah Herrera, Gabriel Martinez, and McKayla Brinkley—brought immense joy to her life. She also cherished her great-grandchildren: Abrielle, Camilla, and MariAnna Martinez. Barbara had numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
Barbara’s siblings held a special place in her heart. She is survived by Geri Manzanares (sister), John Jaramillo (brother-in-law), Victor Serrano (brother-in-law), Eluid (Richard) Manzanares (brother), Kim Manzanares (sister-in-law), Ronald (Ron) Manzanares (brother), Clarence Bosshardt (brother-in-law), and Serena Bosshardt (sister-in-law). She was preceded in death by parents Eluid and Josephine Manzanares; parents-in-law Grant, May, and EmmaBell Bosshardt; sister Dorothy Serrano; and brothers-in-law Orval, Mickey, and Michael Bosshardt.
Barbara’s faith was an integral part of her life. Growing up in the Catholic Church instilled in her a deep love for Jesus. She shared this faith with others by teaching catechism classes alongside her sister Dorothy. Her spiritual foundation guided her throughout her life.
Barbara found joy in many activities that brought people together. She loved playing in the city softball league for years with her sisters and their dad coaching. She also loved camping under the stars, water skiing on sunny days, barbecuing with loved ones, and playing bingo. She was well known for her amazing brownies and posole. As a dedicated sports enthusiast and supporter, she was always present at her children’s games or performances as their loudest cheerleader.
Her legacy is one of unwavering love for family and friends. Barbara gave selflessly to those around her and created countless cherished memories through acts of kindness and moments of togetherness. Her warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Barbara will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she enriched. May the memory of her love bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. A Viewing will be held on May 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 230 N. 3rd Street. A Funeral/Mass Service will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:30 AM, also at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by the Burial service at Elmwood Cemetery at 1175 17 1/4 Rd. Funeral Reception Dinner to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the Bosshardt family asks that you donate to HopeWest whose extraordinary care made her last days peaceful and memorable.
