OBITUARY

Bette James Laughrun

September 5, 1936April 2, 2021

Bette’s life is remembered as one of a visionary with a heart for contribution. Words like change agent, social provocateur, agitator come to mind to describe her approach to solving the social inequity issues that caught her eye. From global to national to state to community when Bette saw an unmet need she was not a small thinker. Her interests and entrepreneurial efforts were driven by her desire to see healthy people, inside and out, working in community to meet the needs “of the least of these”. In the last year due to the pandemic related isolation, the artist in Bette found expression. Formerly oils and acrylics were the tools at hand to produce land & seascapes, Bette took up teaching herself new mediums with subject matter of semi-abstracts and inspirational motifs of lion & lambs. This added substantially to her body of work and in the process, inspired many. Over her lifetime Bette has held many titles. Daughter, wife, mother, friend, mentor, coach, ambassador, world traveler, entrepreneur, philanthropist, speaker & author that are some on the many facets of who she was. Central to all she did is the pursuit of her faith in Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah. It was core to her life mission and her plumbline for living. Her love for Israel, the land, and the people, led her to many opportunities. Bette was a tour organizer, an ambassador for, and endeavoring to connect the American church to its roots. Her quest for better health and aging connected her to an international health and wellness company, Isagenix at age 64. During her time with Isagenix she was repeatedly recognized as a top achiever in their ranks building & leading an organization that spans the globe. A stroke in Bette’s brain stem on March 19th set in motion the path that led to her transition to heaven on Good Friday, April 2nd. In the last two weeks conversations with Bette were sprinkled with humor, her end-of-life planning (that she began back in 2007) and ongoing reality checks about how life would look going forward as we considered the options daily as jointly we processed new information about the impact of a stroke of this type. Bette will be remembered by her connection and contribution to many. • Mesa County Rotary Club of Grand Junction • Transform Our World / Transform Colorado /Transform Grand Junction • Mesa County Kindness Initiative • IsaFoundation • The Joseph Center • HopeWest • International Christian Embassy – Jerusalem • Christian Friends of Israel Communities • And more Bette is survived by her 5 children, Mick, Patsi, Kathie, Kevin, & David.

A celebration of Bette’s life will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Church on April 10th from 2-3pm. This event will be livestreamed on Bette’s Facebook page. Please message thepeoplebuilders@gmail.com for a Zoom link if needed. In lieu of flowers donations in Bette’s honor may be made to the Mesa County Kindness Initiative at www.linktr.ee/CaptKindnessCO

Dear Kathie, Patsi and family,
All the words have already been spoken but just needed to write and include my heartfelt sadness in the loss of a most beautiful, gracious and loving daughter of God. Bette was such an inspiration and example of how life needs to be lived. I thank you all for sharing her with us over and over again. May the Peace of God be with you all. Love, Ruth and Rick Cope (Baltimore, MD)

Bette was like a second mom to me in many ways, she was always interested in how I was doing, even if we had not been in touch for a while, her first question was always a sincere concern for how I was doing, with life, business, family, etc. She was most generous with her time, resources, and council as she was always giving to help others when they really needed help, including me. Her intuition and caring were paramount and I always enjoyed ending our conversation with a prayer, which I will never forget. Bette was one of the kindest, most generous and gentle souls I've ever had the privilege to get to know, she will be missed dearly here on earth and I look forward to that day when we meet again.
RIP my friend!

Bette was an inspiration to me from her love to Gods and his people to her tenacity and commitment to arrive to success and share the fruit of her success with others.

She was smart, fun and beautiful lady all the way around. I will truly miss her she will be missed in this community.

I know her legacy will follow with the beautiful family she left behind. The love she left behind will never cease. May God bless and comfort you.

Bette was unique to each and everyone...
This made her a warrior daughter of our Lord and King, JESUS.
I met Bette in 2003 and our relationship grew as she attended my Salon for pedicures and haircuts. We developed our own likeness through JESUS as “sisters in Christ”.
She had allready scheduled her next appointments at The Salon and my heart broke when I went into my appointment book to erase her name. I shall miss her greatly yet...Praise GOD she is with HIM in HIS HOME...no doubt celebrating.
My deepest condolences to her family. The vacancy is difficult to get used to but in CHRIST we shall move forward in our lives. I speak from the experience of my husband’s departure in Oct. 2020. I am transitioning forward in CHRIST.
Praise our LORD and SAVIOR!!!

Bette was the sweetest, most supportive and loving friend to our family! Whether as a business mentor, an enthusiastic fan of my musical endeavors, or as a trusted friend, Bette was an absolute joy. Bette, we will always love you and hold you close in our hearts...

My sincere condolences to the family. I new Betty as a teenager and reconnected with her through Kathie 12 years ago. I was at a place in my life when I felt very lost and Betty with her late life business success and her strong faith in God became an inspiration. She blessed me with a gift that I didn’t expect, a ticket to a 3-day conference that significantly effected my career. Her generosity sent a clear message that she believed in me and my future. For this, I am eternally thankful.

I will forever treasure my journeys with Bette. We met through common interest and involvement with the Transform Our World ministry, where we co-labored together for years. Bette had such a passion for the world, and a playfulness in it, which made her a welcomed and charismatic presence wherever she went. Bette had the courage to push far past the familiar, to explore new opportunities, to test boundaries, to believe for things yet seen. Her faithfulness to building a better world is the legacy she leaves for us all. I grieve her loss, and yet I know that she is now celebrating in Heaven and cheering us on in the "Cloud of Witnesses."

Dear Bette’s family. Lee and Michelle Wolf are saddened by her death. Lee and Bette were great pals. They are and were born the same year, 1936. Lee is 5 months older than she and we met and got to know her on our Isagenix cruises and events. Bette was our upline in Isagenix, but more importantly our friend. Michelle and Pam Chapdelaine attended an event sponsored by Bette held in her home. She had so much fire and wisdom and how we respected, admired and loved her love for God.
We will miss her fire but know GOD has another angel up in HEAVEN to help give us a boost once and a while.
May she Rest In Peace. She has lived a life well done.
Love Lee and Michelle Wolf
