Betty was born on February 4, 1927 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma to the late Virgil Harvey and Irene (Turner) Lawrence. In December of 1946 she married Arden Arthur Green and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1987. On November 2, 1989 Betty married the love of her life Loyal Morrow and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2012.
Betty worked as an office supervisor for Tri-City Grocery in Granite City, Illinois for 25 years. She volunteered at Heirlooms of Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado and the Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary. She also enjoyed painting, cooking and traveling, especially riding with her husband Loyal on their Goldwing motorcycle. She took great pride in her grandchildren and she treated each one of them as they were her favorite. Betty did have a favorite, her black cat, Oreo, whom she loved dearly.
Betty is survived by her daughter Karen Cook and husband Mike of Harrisburg; daughter-in-law Jean Green of Granite City, Illinois; six grandchildren, Stacia Penrod and husband Eddie of Eldorado; Chad Lakatos and wife, Sally of Edwardsville, Illinois; Adam Lakatos and wife, Cindy of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Tina Green and husband, Jay of Denver, Colorado; Tom Green, Jr. of Granite City, Illinois; and Philip Cook and wife Racheal of Woodstock, Georgia; fifteen great-grandchildren, Zachary McGuire and fiancée Hailee Fromm of Ridway, Illinois; Kaylee McGuire of Nashville, Tennessee; Amanda Varble and husband TJ of Oaktown, Indiana; Amy Olson and husband Larry of Shawneetown; Clayton Lakatos of Edwardsville, Illinois; Cruz Lakatos of Edwardsville, Illinois; Kaleb Lakatos of Evansville, Indiana; Maddie Lakatos of Evansville, Indiana; Noah Lakatos of Evansville, Indiana; Karleigh Lakatos of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Julia Copeland and husband Tristan of Keenesburg, Colorado; Lidia Ilowiecki of Denver, Colorado; ShaDeen Tsinnijinnie of Henderson, Colorado; Jamie Green of Granite City, Illinois; and Leo Cook of Woodstock, Georgia; six great great-grandchildren, Addison, Austin, Lilly, Laine, Kinsley, and Havi; brother, Bob Lawrence and wife, Jeri of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; a special fondness for Kevin McGuire of Ridway, Heather McGuire of Dandridge, Tennessee, and Jessica Holloway of Evansville, Indiana.
In addition to her husbands, Arden and Loyal, and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son Thomas L. Green and her sister, Virginia Murphy.
Funeral services for Betty Lois Morrow were held at 3 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral Home formerly Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg and Rev. Brad Vinyard officiated. Visitation was from 1 PM to 3 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Stricklin Funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colorado, and burial will follow at 1 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. Betty's nephew, Pastor Dene Johnson, will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Rifle, Colorado and Heirlooms for Hospice.
