
Brian Gail Covington, age 64, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and formerly of Rangely, Colorado, passed away on October 20, 2025.
Brian was born in 1961 and grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors—a love that stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, and fishing, and he shared these passions with his friends and family. In high school, Brian was a great wrestler.
Throughout his career, Brian worked in the oil and gas industry, where he built not only a successful professional life but also many enduring friendships. After retiring, he found great joy in his role as a grandfather and in the companionship of his beloved dog, Blue.
Brian is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lopez, and her husband, Adam Lopez; grandchildren, Adrian and Sofia Lopez; sisters, Denyce Abbott and Holli Covington; brother-in-law, Pat Abbott; niece, Breena Calhoon; nephews, Jackson Abbott and Trevor Abbott; and many cousins who were an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Gail Covington; grandparents, Velma and Wilk Covington; uncles, Ricky and Kenneth Covington; and aunt, Bonnell Halcomb.
A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring of 2026, with date and time to be announced.
