Caesar Dotta, Jr. was born on August 1, 1944, in Loyalton, California. His parents were Caesar Dotta, Sr. and Gladys Brown. Caesar was raised on his family’s ranch in Loyalton, California. Later, when Caesar was still little, his father sold his part of the large family’s ranch and moved to Reno with Caesar and his twin sister Kathy.
He and Kathy were raised by a sweet nanny named Mamie. Caesar graduated from Bishop Manogue High School in Reno, Nevada, in 1962. He met his first wife shortly after graduating high school and had two boys: Dan and Mike.
Caesar joined the Army National Guard and completed his commitment at the Reno post. Caesar had a long and dedicated law enforcement career from February 1971 to July 1993. He honorably retired after 22 years of service. During his time on the force, he worked with the FBI, CIA, DEA, ATF, Canadian Police and Secret Service. He rode undercover with the Hell’s Angels; guarded President Regan and General Schwarzkopf who also enjoyed trap shooting at the ranch with Caesar. Caesar was credited with saving several lives on and off duty.
During this time, Caesar met and married Carol Ackerman. Together, they combined their families to become the beautiful blended family it is today. Caesar enjoyed having family around and doing fun activities with them like fishing, camping and cutting wood. During early retirement, he and Carol moved to Grand Junction dappled in ranching, raising hay and horses for 15 years. Caesar loved using his tractor to cut hay for Carol’s horses. They sold the ranch and moved into town where they lived out their golden years in comfort. His wife, Carol, survives him and continues to live in Grand Junction.
A memorial mass for Caesar will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 790 26 1/2 Rd., Grand Junction, Colorado 81506.
