Survivors include one son, William “Bill” Unruh; one stepson, Dave Unruh of Alaska; three stepdaughters, Allene Franklin of Alaska, Gwen Sublette of Grand Junction, and Linda Pederson of Greenwood Village; eight step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Carol Smith
September 25, 1918 - January 21, 2014
Carol Smith was born September 25, 1918, in Wills, Wisconsin to Claudine Wills Perkins and Edwin Perkins. The little settlement of Wills was named after Carol's grandfather, Jacob Wills. When Carol was 11, the family moved West because of her frail health. She graduated as Valedictorian from Post Falls, Idaho High School and attended Whitworth College in Spokane, WA and a business college in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
While employed in the welfare office in Coeur d'Alene, she took and passed the Civil Service exam. She started working for the Farm Credit Administration in Washington, DC in May, 1940 and worked for that agency in Kansas City, Missouri and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (n/k/a Federal Aviation Administration) in Seattle, Washington, Anchorage, Alaska, and retired in Grand Junction, Colorado as an Administrative Officer in September, 1985.
Carol was previously married to Frank Unruh, who died in 1980. Her son, John Schoonmaker died in 1989.
On February 14, 1999, she married Harold G. Smith, who died February 18, 2010.
She is survived by her son, Bill Unruh of Grand Junction, CO; step-children, Dave Unruh of Alaska; Allene Franklin of Alaska; Gwen (Gus) Sublette of Grand Junction, CO,, and Linda (Jerry) Pederson of Greenwood Village, CO; eight step-grandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.
